Well, the big blizzard is coming, and that means just one thing. Time for tea! And baked goods! And cozy socks!
To prepare for the 24-36 inches of snow we are expecting here in Boston, I brewed a delicious cup of tea, and added some steamed milk made the "easy way".
Check it out!
First, the milk. I wish I could take credit for this one, but I saw it on the internet last week...well it works! First, you fill a mason jar about 1/3 of the way with milk (I used 1%), screw the top on and SHAKE IT UP until it is nice and frothy. Then, you take the top off, throw it in the microwave for about 45 seconds, and voila! You have "steamed milk", perfect to top your delicious tea latte. Put that aside, and move on to the tea.
Next, I added a drop of honey to the bottom of my mug, and filled my adorable loose tea steeper with 1.5 tsp of loose tea. This tea latte was made with one of my favorites, Forever Nuts made by David's Tea. It actually doesn't have any tea leaves in it at all, but instead is comprised of almond slices, apple pieces, cinnamon and beet root and it is AMAZING. So sweet and delicious, it tastes like a warm pastry. I highly recommend it.
So, I let that all hang out in my tea cup for about 5 minutes, while waiting very impatiently.
Finally, my tea was all done, ready for the finishing touch. I added the milk, topped it with froth and here is the beautiful final result:
Isn't that a beautiful cup of pink tea?? The perfect color only makes this tea more delightful. It gets the perfect pink hue from the beet root, which is also rich in antioxidants (betalains) and minerals. This tea makes me feel like i'm eating an almond pastry, and really quells my sweet tooth while feeling decadant.
